Juan Díaz - Balearic Islands Scratch Champion 2016

Last Saturday, April 23rd, a new edition of the Senior Golf Championship was held at Puntiró, sponsored by AIR EUROPA. Juan Díaz, with a spectacular round of 76 (+5) and against all odds, was crowned Senior Champion of the Balearic Islands in the men's category, and Margarete Gaggioni, with 84 strokes (+13), in the women's category. There were 120 players participating (39 ladies and 81 gentlemen). The course was in excellent condition, which, combined with the good weather, made it possible for those present to enjoy a great day of golf.

The competition was played over 18 holes in medal play format. In the ladies' competition, a sudden-death playoff was necessary, which was decided on the first hole, with the reigning champion, Vicky Pertierra, finishing as runner-up. In the men's competition, Antonio González, Ricardo Andreu, Francisco Romo, and Mateu Balaguer are the joint runners-up with 78 strokes (+7), with the trophy going to the first of them.
